Dorian Drake Volunteers at Community-based Soup Kitchen & Pantry

White Plains, NY – July 24, 2012 – Employees from Dorian Drake International, a White Plains, N.Y. export management company, volunteered at Hope Community Services based in New Rochelle, NY (http://hopecommunityservices.org).  They assisted the Hope Community Services pantry to pack 650 bags of groceries. The food had been previously donated by different organizations in the community for low-income residents.  The food packages are distributed by Hope with the goal of helping low-income residents to maintain nutrition, and help their residents avoid using rent money for food, thereby helping to prevent homelessness.

Employees of Dorian Drake also donated food, volunteered their time to cook food, and together with additional volunteers and the Hope staff served food at 4:30 PM.  Joe Arcovio, the Food Service Group Manager at Dorian Drake International took on the responsibilities of being the head chef, and cook a deliciously nutritional meal consisting of Baked Ziti, meatballs, sauteed vegetables for over 100 residents of New Rochelle that were registered with the Hope soup kitchen as low-income residents.  Prior to the meal Ed Pysa and Paola Zapien from Dorian Drake led everyone in grace in English and Spanish.

“Hope Community Services is a wonderful organization” said Industrial & Environmental Group Manager Ed Pysa. “It was a pleasure being able to assist today, it felt good contributing to the community. I was very impressed with how dedicated the Hope staff and their volunteers are to serve the community and their clients.”

This was the second year that Dorian Drake volunteered a day with Hope Community Services.  It was beneficial for the Hope staff, as during the summer months there is a shortage of volunteers and staff.  The Cultural Committee of Dorian Drake International organized the event, which is one of multiple charitable events held annually to assist international and US-based charitable organizations.
